● Casino account - $102,000 ($89,000 from last Casino event)

4. Fundraising Initiatives

a. Clothing Bin

● Clothing bins now in place with the school. Please spread the word to members

of the community that these bins can be used. The bins collect clothing that can

be donated / sold, as well as textiles that are no longer useable, which can be

recycled into playground flooring. Purses and footwear are acceptable, however,

jewelry is not.

b. Recycle Bin: Ongoing

● Volunteers will be required for this event

9. Silent Auction

● Seeking donations; if you know of a business who could make a donation which

could also raise awareness for their business, please approach them

10. Newly Approved Budget Teacher Appreciation

● Ms. Leslie LeVesconte (Gr. 1/2) expressed appreciation for the new budget,

which was approved via a special meeting on February 17th. This budget has

allocated funds to support renovation of the Teacher’s Lounge. Ms. LeVesconte,

a longstanding teacher at Briar Hill, indicated both that she appreciates the

parent support for teachers, and that several teachers have expressed an

intention to use the space for student activities (e.g., STEM experiments).

1. Call to Order

The Briar Hill School Foundation Meeting was called to order at 12:16 p.m.

2. Budget Discussion

• Matthew DiNardo provided an overview of the current condition of the teachers’ kitchen and the need for updates.

• He explained how funds were reallocated between the General Fund budget and the Casino budget in order to preserve more General Fund resources.

• Matthew shared his screen to present the specific budget revisions and changes. See appendix A. 

• The floor was opened for discussion at 12:30 PM.
  
  

3. Questions

• At 12:31 PM, Gunther asked whether the Casino budget could be used for the kitchen improvements.

• It was clarified that Casino funds cannot be used because AGLC regulations do not allow those funds to be applied toward building improvements.

• While special permission can sometimes be requested, this situation does not meet the required criteria.

4. Motion and Vote

• At 12:32 PM, a motion to approve the budget revisions was made by Matthew.

• The motion was seconded by Gunther.

• Approval was indicated by Negin, Christine, Carol, Alessandra, and Theanna via Zoom chat.

• Motion carried.

5. Adjournment

The meeting concluded at 12:32 PM.
